Anies Inaugurates 4 Integrated Stations as Intermodal Transportation in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan together with State-owned Enterprises Minister, Erick Thohir and Transportation Ministry, Budi Karya Sumadi inaugurated the first phase of four integrated stations; Sudirman Station, Tanah Abang Station, Juanda Station, and Senen Station on Wednesday (6/17).

Thank God, now it has turned into a comfortable public facility

Inauguration was carried out at Tanah Abang Station and continued with monitoring Dukuh Atas Transit Oriented Development Area in Sudirman Station.

"Thank God we can be here today, at an important event of transportation development in the capital city of Jakarta. Around 3-4 months ago, it was a slum area, which were not safe, unhealthy, and unsightly especially for selfie. Thank God, now it has turned into a comfortable public facility," he conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

The next phase for integrated station development project will be carried out at Manggarai Station, Tebet Station, Gondangdia Station, Palmerah Station, and Jakarta Kota Station. Anies mentioned that Jakarta Kota Station will be integrated with Kota Tua arrangement and MRT Phase II development.

"Hopefully, we can realize integrated intermodal transport facilities. Because, we know exactly, that when public transport fleets are available but not integrated, people will not use it optimally and almost impossible for us to integrate it without collaboration. What I mean integration in here is not only about integration of the passengers, but it starts from the collaboration between its management. Today, we build collaboration and realize 4 integrated stations in Jakarta," he asserted.

In this chance, his side also conveyed appreciation and gratitude for all parties who have been involved and worked hard in the last 5 months to realize four integrated stations in the first phase. Especially, he also thanked BUMN Minister and Transportation Minister for accelerating the construction process through joint venture between PT. MRT and PT. KAI into PT. Moda Integrasi Tranportasi Jabodetabek (MITJ).

"I also express my gratitude and appreciation to the President for his support and guidance. I must underline here that at the meeting in early 2018, President had underlined that in Jakarta, we must integrate transportation and its management along with spatial management, thus the transportation development plan is inline with spatial development plan. Thanks to Mr. President, here are the realization from President's guidance and Insya Allah, 5 other stations will be integrated soon," he expressed.

His side also showed international standard wayfinding and signage that have been installed at the first phase of integrated stations. By installing wayfinding and signage, he hopes people who are coming to Jakarta for the first time can feel comfortable and easy to read the direction to bus shelters/station and other transport modes in the area.

"Jakarta is the gate of the world. There are so many people who visit Jakarta without knowing about Jakarta. Now, by installing international standard wayfinding and signage, Insya Allah Jakarta become more prepared to be a part of global economy," he closed.
